This page contains information on the transportation options available to delegates. Conference 2020 will be held at the Shaw Centre located at 55 Colonel By Drive in Ottawa.

Getting to Ottawa

You have several means of transportation to choose from to get to Ottawa, depending on your point of departure. We encourage delegates to opt for a green option – see the promotional offer from Via Rail below. Most airlines serve the Ottawa International Airport. You can also get to Ottawa by bus or car.

PARTICIPATION OF VIA RAIL

As one of Canada’s primary ground transportation companies, Via Rail Canada is pleased to contribute to the success of the conference by offering special rates to delegates.

Discount: 10% discount on the best available fare in Economy, Economy Plus, Business, Business Plus, and Sleeper class. “Subject to the conditions and restrictions of the fare plan to which the additional discount is applied”. A free stopover is permitted at no additional cost for Economy, Economy Plus and Sleeper class fare plans. For business class fare plans, the first stopover is permitted at no additional cost, provided that this stopover takes place in Toronto, Montreal or Ottawa.

 

  • Period of Validity: from June 8, 2020 to June 22, 2020
  • Identification: participants must mention the VIA convention discount code for the event, which is 14054.
  • Regions: from all stations on the VIA network to Ottawa, Ontario and return journey.
  • Restrictions: the fare applies to a maximum of two passengers per reservation.
  • Exception: the discount does not apply to Escape fares and Prestige classes.

 

Getting to the Ottawa Convention Centre (Shaw Centre)

From Ottawa International Airport, 1000 Airport Parkway Private, Ottawa, ON K1V 9B4 (approximately 17 kilometres).

  • By bus and train: take bus number 97 for about 19 minutes. Change at Hurdman for the light rail train (O-Train) westbound towards Tunney’s Pasture. After 6 minutes, get off at stop 3023 Rideau O-Train / West. Walk approximately 3 minutes to the Ottawa Convention Centre (Shaw Centre). Approximate cost: $3.55 (cash or with PRESTO card)
  • By taxi: take a taxi from the airport to the Convention Centre (Shaw Centre) for a journey of approximately 21 minutes. Approximate cost: $30

From the Ottawa Greyhound Bus Terminal (Central Station), 265 Catherine Street, Ottawa, ON (approximately 5 kilometres)

  • By bus: walk to the Bank / Catherine intersection for approximately 4 minutes to bus stop 8895. Take bus number 6 towards Rockcliffe, or bus number 7 towards Saint-Laurent for approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the Rideau Centre stop. Walk approximately 3 minutes to the Shaw Centre. Approximate cost: $3.55 (cash or with PRESTO card)
  • By taxi: taxis are available at the station, bound for the Convention Centre (Shaw Centre) for a journey of approximately 13 minutes. Approximate cost: $15-20

From the Ottawa Via Rail train station, 200 Tremblay Street, Ottawa, ON K1G 3H5 (approximately 5 kilometres) to reach the Ottawa Convention Centre (Shaw Centre)

  • By train: walk to the Tremblay O-Train West light rail train station (3024). Take the westbound train to Tunney’s Pasture; after 8 minutes get off at stop 3023 Rideau O-Train/West. Walk approximately 3 minutes to the Ottawa Convention Centre (Shaw Centre). Approximate cost: $3.55 (cash or with PRESTO card)
  • By taxi: taxis are available at the station heading to the Convention Centre for a journey of approximately 12 minutes. Approximate cost: $15-20

Para Transpo

Para Transpo is a door-to-door public transportation service available upon reservation. Eligible registered users who cannot use conventional public transportation for a certain period or permanently because of a disability can use this service. This service is funded by the City of Ottawa and operated by OC Transpo.

Para Transpo provides minibus and taxi transportation services (under contract) in the urban areas of Ottawa, between the urban and rural areas, as well as in the Hull area (in Gatineau).
